Deinonychus

Deinonychus and the other Dromaeosaurs were small
and aggressive hunters. Very few theropods could match their
intelligens, and none could show such a cruel combination of
weapons. The jaws of the Dromaeosaurs were filled with large,
rounded daggerlike teeth, the threefingered hands had curved
claws, and even larger curved claws shot out from their birdlike
feet. The large springknife klaws on the middle toe were twice
as long as the other two. Dromaesaurus varied in length between
2-6 meters, and they developed probably during Jura, tho the
known fosils is from Kritt.

Noone knows for sure what color the Deinonychus
had. Most likely they would have been toned or colored so that
their skin would melt with the surroundings. Tigerstriped or
spotted like a Cheeta, perhaps. This type of camuflage would
help the predator to hunt.
Placed
as if it is jumping to kill, this skeleton of Deunonychus shows
some of the main details of the fysical look of this predator
that made them famous and feared. The jaws are open to show
the terrible, cruel teeth, the tiny forelimbs folds out like
birdwings, and stretches out to attatch the large claws to the
prey. The springknife claws on the hindlegs is prepeared to
cut the prey's softer underside. The tail is stiffed with plates
of bone, to make it a help to balance during jumps and running,
helping the predator to move around.
